European Shuai Jiao Championship 2023 – Update

You are invited to register to attend the European Shuai Jiao Championship 2023. The European Shuai Jiao Championship is sponsored and hosted by the European Shuai Jiao Union (ESJU), in association with the Assciazione di Cultura Sport e Tempo Libero (ACSI). This championship is the pre-eminent event for Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) in Europe. The European Shuai Jiao Championship 2023, from 14 to 16 September, in Montesilvano, Italy. This year promises to be even more spectacular with nations taking part in the first major international Shuai Jiao championship in 2023. The Championship Flyer, can be used to advertise this Championship locally.

The Council of the European Shuai Jiao Union (ESJU) is the officially recognised governing body for Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling) and responsible for organising Chinese wrestling tournaments, seminars and events, in Europe, in which all member nations are welcome to participate. Members and Associates are cordially invited to participate in this prestigious event.

Participation Requirements

At this time, participating athletes are eligible to choose from 72 child, youth, adult and senior events: Official Categories
. Weight categories may be adapted depending on the number of entries received.

Please note:

• athletes under the age of 18 will require their parent/guardian’s permission to participate.
• athletes must be within the correct category age group for participation on the first day of the championship - proof of age may be requested.

All participating athletes will need to ensure that they have had a medical check and have obtained appropriate insurance.

All participating athletes are required to pay the Category Entry Fee for the championship when registering:

• Adults - 50 Euro
• Child/Youth - 30 Euro.

All participating athletes who would like to participate in the seminar are required to pay the Seminar Fee during registration. All Athletes must register for the Championship first. The Athlete Seminar Fee is 20 Euro.

All seminar participants, that are not athletes, are required to pay the Seminar Fee during registration. The Non-Athlete Seminar Fee is 30 Euro.

Registration

The ESJU operate strictly on the basis of one organisation to form the national team to represent each country. ONLY the team that is officially recognised by the ESJU may participate. You may register your athletes, coach(es), team leader(s) and official(s) – referee(s)/judge(s) - individually, using the Registration Form
. Your Authentication Code has been issued by email.

Alternatively, your may submit a Group Registration using the Group Registration Form and submitting it to the Registration email by Saturday 15 July 2023.

All participants (athletes, coaches, and officials) must provide a passport quality recent colour photograph, when registering. The dimensions of the photograph is set out below. Photo booth photographs are acceptable.



Spectators do not need to register or provide a photograph, to spectate, but will need to arrange their own accommodation.

If you are aware of other national organisation (outside of your nation) who may be interested in Shuai Jiao and in attending this event, then please encourage them to join us.

Transportation

If you need transportation information for a journey between the Airport (Pescara) and the Hotel (Montesilvano) we can advise on economical and convenient options: it is approximately 40 Euro for a twenty-minute journey from the Airport (Pescara) to the Hotel (Montesilvano). Please provide your travel details when registering, so we know when you have arrived. You may want to make your own transportation arrangements.

Referee/Judge Refresher Course

You may register your interest Referee/Judges interest in attending a brief Refresher Course before the championship starts. If this is something that you would be interested in, then we can build this activity into the programme of events. Please let me know if you are interested, by email.

Rules Update

The latest Shuai Jiao Tournament Rules and Regulations for tournaments and championships is now available. Please note the updated rules will be utilised at the European Shuai Jiao Championship.

Adults and Youths (Aged 12 Years or More) Categories

3 People or Less – Round Robin.
4 People or More – Double Elimination with Byes.

Youths from 12 to 17 years of age: 2 rounds of 3 minutes with a 30 second break.
Adults from 18 years of age: 2 rounds of 3 minutes with a 30 second break.

Children (Aged 8 to 11 Years) Categories

Single Elimination with Byes.

Children up to 8 years of age: 1 round of 2 minutes.
Children from 9 to 11 years of age: 1 round of 3 minutes.

ESJU Council Meeting

All Team Leaders are expected to attend the ESJU Council Meeting, which will take place on one evening during the championship. Further details will be provided shortly. If you require interpretation, then you may bring an interpreter with you. The meeting will be conducted in English and Chinese (as the official languages of the ESJU).

ESJU Membership

All national Shuai Jiao union Presidents are required to update their organisation's membership information. Your updated information will be processed ONLY if it includes a valid Authentication Code, issued by the ESJU Secretary General. This information will then be published on the ESJU website 'Members' page.

If your membership is not up to date then you should update at your earliest convenience.
